Dr. Athanassios I. Tsoukas is a partner and vascular and general surgeon at Radiology Associates of South Florida. Before joining RASF, he held a similar position at the Surgical Group of Miami.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Athens Medical School, graduating in the top 10% of his class in 1988. He moved to the Boston area after graduation. There, he served as a research fellow at Harvard Medical School, developing innovative angioscopic techniques, and as an intern in the department of surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine/St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. He completed his residency in the surgery department at St. Elizabeth's, graduating as chief resident in general surgery. A fellowship in clinical vascular and endovascular surgery followed at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He then moved to Florida in 1998 to join the West Palm Beach and Miami V.A. medical centers as a vascular and general surgeon. In 2000, Dr. Tsoukas returned to Greece for six months to serve as a physician in the Greek Air Force.
Dr. Tsoukas has published extensively on vascular surgery in peer-review journals and has a special interest in carotid surgery.
