Dr. Benenati is a partner with Radiology Associates of South Florida. He also is an interventional radiologist, medical director in noninvasive vascular laboratory, and program director for the Vascular and Interventional Radiology Fellowship Program at the Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute. He also serves as a clinical associate professor in medicine with the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine and as medical director of the Bachelor of Science RVT program at Nova Southeastern University. In the past, he has acted as an assistant professor of radiology and surgery at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He is a member of the executive committee of the Society of Interventional Radiology; he has served on the annual meeting committee for the Society of Interventional Radiology and was the annual meeting committee chairman in 2005. He is an acting member of the board of directors of the ICAVL (Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratory), a national commission that sets standards for noninvasive vascular testing throughout the United States. He is a fellow in the Society of Interventional Radiology and a fellow in the American Heart Association.
Dr. Benenati has been published in a number of medical journals including the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, the American Journal of Radiology, and the New England Journal of Medicine and Radiology. Subjects of interest include clinical management of peripheral vascular disease, noninvasive lab testing in patients with lower extremity peripheral vascular disease, new devices for the treatment of femoropopliteal occlusive disease, treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms with endorgrafts, and treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysms with endografts. He has also written and lectured extensively on women’s health issues in interventional radiology including uterine artery embolization in women with symptomatic uterine fibroids. Dr. Benenati has published numerous articles and more than 100 abstracts and co-authored two textbooks, including Patient Care in Interventional Radiology. Dr. Benenati regularly presents at scientific meetings and has lectured throughout the United States and throughout the world. Dr. Benenati has also served as a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology and for the Journal of Radiology.
Dr. Benenati received an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MD from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He went on to complete a residency in the department of radiology at Indiana University Medical Center and a fellowship in cardiovascular radiology at Johns Hopkins University.
