Jason Extein, M.D., is a partner at Radiology Associates of South Florida and serves as Section Chief of Body Imaging. Dr. Extein has a particular interest in oncologic imaging using CT and MRI and participates regularly in tumor boards involving hepatobiliary, rectal, gynecologic, and genitourinary oncology cases. As an Assistant Professor of Radiology at FIU, he teaches abdominal imaging to medical students in Radiology clerkship and electives.
Prior to joining Baptist Health South Florida in 2018, Dr. Extein served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology and Abdominal Imaging at the University of Miami’s Department of Radiology. His research has been published in peer-reviewed scientific publications, including the American Journal of Roentgenology.
A South Florida native, Dr. Extein earned his undergraduate degree at Princeton University and attended medical school at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City before moving to Durham, NC to complete residency and abdominal imaging fellowship at Duke University where he also served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Extein’s care philosophy is to take an active role in patient care, particularly in the oncologic setting. A radiologist must understand the treatment options being considered, interpret studies with care decisions in mind, and advise on how to effectively and efficiently image patients throughout the course of their care.
