Dr. Vieira is a board-certified radiologist with subspecialty training in all breast imaging modalities (including ultrasound, digital mammography, and MRI). She has expertise in performing breast biopsies and interventions using imaging guidance.
Dr. Vieira is a dedicated breast imager who interprets screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds, and breast MRIs at Baptist Outpatient Centers. She also has expertise in performing all breast interventions, including stereotactic, ultrasound-guided, and MRI-guided breast biopsies and preoperative needle localizations at Baptist South Miami Breast Center. Prior to joining Radiology Associates of South Florida in August 2011, Dr. Vieira was the primary breast imaging specialist at Good Samaritan Medical Center and St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Her research interests have focused on the imaging findings of microinvasive ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and triple receptor negative breast cancers. She has presented her findings at national meetings and has been published in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Vieira earned her MD from Harvard Medical School after completing the Health, Sciences, and Technology combined program at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She received her BA magna cum laude in Romance Languages and Literature from Harvard College. She completed a surgical internship, general radiology residency (where she was Chief Resident), and dedicated one-year breast imaging fellowship at New York University.
Dr. Vieira is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and French.
