A partner with Radiology Associates of South Florida, Dr. Baquero is currently a vascular and interventional radiologist at South Miami Hospital. He holds the position of voluntary assistant professor of clinical radiology at the University of Miami. Dr. Baquero is board-certified in diagnostic radiology and has a Certification of Added Qualification in vascular and interventional radiology by the American Board of Radiology.

Dr. Baquero is the chairman of the executive committee of the South Miami Heart Center. In addition, he is the chairman of credentialing and co-chairman of peripheral vascular quality assurance committees. He is a member of the newly formed medical staff quality and peer review committee. He has also served as chief of interventional radiology since 2000.

Dr. Baquero’s interest in the field of interventional radiology include peripheral vascular interventions, embolotherapy, and venous access. He has published on subjects including translumbar catheterization of the inferior vena cava for central venous access, reactivation of traumatic arterial hemorrhage during therapeutic embolization, and aberrant obturator arteries encountered during therapeutic embolization for obstetrical hemorrhage.

Dr. Baquero has an undergraduate degree and an MD from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Urena in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He completed internships in internal medicine at the Military Hospital of Santo Domingo and in pediatrics at the University Hospital, State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Baquero completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the University Hospital, SUNY at Stony Brook, and a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at Yale New Haven Hospital, Yale University School of Medicine.
