Dr. Mendelson’s experience includes staff appointments at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, RI, and the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, VA. He also served at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego where he was named Teacher of the Year. He has been active in the Society for Pediatric Radiology, especially in the field of Child Abuse. He was honored by the Society’s Presidential Achievement Award for his work in 2004. Here in Miami, he has twice been nominated as Physician of the Year for Baptist Outpatient Services.
Dr. Mendelson retired from the U.S. Navy at the rank of Captain in 2007. He served as senior Flight Surgeon for Carrier Air Wing SEVENTEEN which was deployed aboard USS SARATOGA during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After transferring to the Naval Reserve, he was recalled to active service in 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has twice been awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for professional Excellence.
